The principle of converting the solar energy incident on the earth as light and heat into electrical energy is quite simple: the photons, particles of light from the sun, make contact with a solar cell and are directly converted into electrical current. The process is silent and smooth. A solar electricity plant is low-maintenance and a reliable generator of electricity for many years to come, whatever the weather.

Just the right solution for every roof

The choice of system depends on many factors:

  • The roof shape
  • The size of the available roof area
  • Shading from nearby buildings or trees

Our in-depth consultation always starts with a visit to the site. To give you an idea, just ten square metres of roof area are sufficient to meet about one quarter of the electricity needs of an average household. Depending on the local conditions, such as orientation, tilt and amount of incident sunlight, we recommend one of the following system types:

ON-ROOF VARIANT

The on-roof variant is the most common and generally also the most economical form of solar electricity power system to be installed on the roof of a private house. The modules are mounted parallel to the surface of the roof, leaving a small gap between the modules and the roof.

With in-roof assembly, the solar modules replace the roof tiles, either in part or across the entire area of the roof. This visually attractive solution is technically a little more complex and is ideal for new buildings and re-roofing work. This assembly is only suitable if there is sufficient ventilation behind the modules as otherwise the yield is reduced.

How much effort does the installation involve?

A solar electricity system can generally be mounted by an expert within one week. Only minor electrical work has to be carried out in the house and this hardly generates any dirt. In most cases, existing cable channels can be used to lay the solar cables from the roof to the inverters and to the house connection.

What happens on the roof?

Your roof is given a second skin. On tiled roofs, a few roof tiles are lifted slightly during assembly in order to screw the system onto the roof beams. Afterwards, the tiles again cover the areas where the system has been fixed. In future, the solar modules protect your roof from the impact of the weather. It heats up less in summer and the roof tiles have a longer life.
