Solar park Le Lauzet 2

A premiere in the French market: solar park at a height of 1,000 metres above

Phoenix Solar has built its first French ground-mounted project – a solar plant with a peak power of more than 1.5 MWp several 100 metres above the damn near Le Lauzet-Ubaye for E.ON Climate & Renewables GmbH. This ambitious project was not without its hurdles: The road leading to the 1,000-metre high site was narrow and winding and not suitable for regular construction vehicles. All components had to be transferred onto smaller four-wheel lorries which manoevred their loads carefully up to the site.

The main challenges were, on the one hand, to drive piles into the rocky ground to support the sub-structure and, on the other, the generally extreme weather conditions which also hampered construction progress and necessitated special measures. Thanks to skilful project management and our efficient local sub-contractors, "Le Lauzet 2" was finished on time.

Now, 6,720 modules are generating more than two million kilowatt hours p.a. of environmentally compatible electricity for some 550 households. This solar park is a first for Phoenix Solar AG on several counts: France as the photovoltaic market of the future, E.ON Climate & Renewables GmbH as a renowned principal, and a challenging project site which sets benchmarks in construction management.

"The close and open communication with the Phoenix Solar project team members is the basis for further joint projects", affirmed Volker Barnewold, Le Lauzet project leader for E.ON Climate & Renewables GmbH.
